Overview

In October, the trainees of the Samama Fellowship will develop a project for elementary school children together with the musicians of Holland Baroque.

Children do not get in touch with music anymore. School concerts are therefore so important! This is where children hear music performed live by an orchestra. We consider it an essential task to contribute to this.

Tineke Steenbrink: ‘Culture is so important for children. Whether that’s music, dance, sports or other creative activities. This doesn’t come naturally. In this program, children are going to listen to a concert of about 45 minutes, developed especially for them. ‘What do you hear, what do you see, what happens?’ We see it as a creative stimulus.’

Judith Steenbrink: ‘The magic of music cannot be put into words. The purpose of the school concerts is to stimulate imagination and creativity, express emotions, become aware of perceptions, and develop curiosity. Listening is an individual experience. Everyone hears, thinks, and feels differently.’

With the Samama Fellowship, Holland Baroque won the REMA Award in the category ‘Best support program for young artists.’ We are committed to the newest generation of musicians and listeners. For us, winning this award is an appreciation of this commitment.
